TOUR 3

Gunnamatta Bay to Bass and Flinders Point

It's definitely a little more demanding, but this Tour's rewards include some of Cronulla's most spectacular bayside beaches, parks, and seaside views.

We meet at Cronulla Railway Station, then walk past the Gunnamatta Bay ferry wharf, from which two of Australia's oldest timber ferries serve the Hacking River community of Bundeena. They offer a memorable journey for visitors.

Then we follow beautiful Gunnamatta Bay and its spectacular beaches. Walking to access them will be across uneven surfaces, which can sometimes be wet.

Gunnamatta Bay and Darook Park beaches are great favourites with local families, with their parks and non-surf still water.

After we tour through some of Cronulla's residential areas, we reach Darook Park and its beach. It is set amongst thickets of Australian native bushland, which we enjoy before continuing to Hungry Point. It boasts a 200-year-old Moreton Bay fig tree and is our area's marine rescue base.

Salmon Haul Reserve, with wonderful views across the Hacking River, follows.

We then conclude our walk at the monument to early explorers George Bass and Matthew Flinders. In 1796, they mapped the Port Hacking estuary.

To return to Cronulla, guests may take an easy walk around the scenic Esplanade or use public transport from nearby Ewos Parade.
